Product Description

Athens, Greece Acropolis Bookends

The Porch of the Maidens, Erechtheum at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece was built in 421-406 B.C. Statues of Maidens (known as Caryatides) replace columns in the structure.  The originals today have been replaced by fibre glass reproductions due to concerns over pollution erosion.

The Erectheum sits upon the most sacred site of the Acropolis, where Poseidon and Athena held a contest over who would become patron of the city.  Athena was declared the victor and the great city was named for her.

Each set comes with 2 bookends.  They are made of resin with an antiqued finish.
